As we are well into the last 3 months of 2017 and so we thought we would remind you about the Child Dental Benefit Medicare Scheme.
Did you know that the Australian Government in conjunction with Medicare are giving eligible families a Child Dental Benefit?
The Medicare Child Dental Benefit scheme offers financial support for basic dental services for children aged 2–17. You may be entitled to Claim $1000 towards dental care per child!

Here are the basics:
- You have a child aged between 2–17 years.
- You receive a government benefit; like Family Tax Benefit Part A
- You have a Medicare card
What you may claim:
Basic dental services at a private dental practice up to $1,000 per child over a 2 year period. If you do not use all of your $1,000 in the first year, you can use it in the second year , providing you are still eligible. You can not carry any remaining balance beyond the end of the second year.What are basic dental services?
- Examinations
- X-Rays
- Cleaning
- Fissure Sealing
- Fillings
- Root Canals
- Extractions.
Dentistry that you can not claim:
- Orthodontic
- Cosmetic Dental Work
- Services provided in a hospital
