Cosmetic Dental Concerns Suitable for Minimal and “No-Prep” Veneers

Dr Jack recently returned from a training course interstate learning about minimal preparation and “no-prep” Dental Veneers.

Traditional Dental Veneer placement require the removal of the top layer of your tooth structure, sometimes beyond the outermost layer of the tooth, making the procedure irreversible.

However some porcelain veneers available today can be placed completely within the top layer of the tooth in a minimally invasive and possibly “no preparation” way.

Additionally, whereas traditional porcelain veneer procedures usually require an injection of local anesthetic, this might not be necessary if your Dental Veneers are placed within the top layer of tooth. Of course your level of sensitivity will determine if not using anesthesia is an option.

If undergoing a minimal preparation Dental Veneer procedure – may also require tooth modifications, depending on the condition and position of your teeth that are being treated. Such modifications are usually minimal, affecting only the top layer of your tooth, with no penetration into the second layer of tooth substance.

Minimal prep veneers are suitable for adults and teens wishing to address cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Slight discolored or stained teeth
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Misshapen, fanged or pointy and misaligned teeth
  • Slight crowded teeth
  • Worn teeth
  • Small teeth

Minimal preparation or “no-prep” veneers is regarded by Dr Jack as a viable alternative to traditional dental veneers for some cosmetic cases.
