Inlays & Onlays

Dental inlays and dental onlays are a more conservative restorative solution than a dental crown as only a minimal amount of tooth structure needs to be removed. A dental inlay sits ‘in’ while a dental onlay is placed ‘on’ a tooth. They are sometimes referred to as indirect filling.

Dental inlays and dental onlays are most often used to restore back teeth that have mild to moderate decay and have broken or worn down. Inlays and onlays are also used to repair teeth that have cracked or sustained minor damage in an accident or suffered a sporting injury

These restorations are durable and typically made from porcelain, composite resin or sometimes with gold or alloy base with a tooth-coloured surface. Inlays and Onlays that will be seen are colour matched to your natural tooth enamel and allow you to retain an aesthetically pleasing smile.
