On March 20 it is World Oral Health Day 2017

How does your mouth affect your life?

Infinity Dental Care Winston Hills celebrate World Oral Health Day 2017 on March 20!

This day is celebrated globally every year, in 140 countries, to be precise!  It is organized and promoted every year by FDI World Dental Federation back.  It was launched to help raise awareness of the importance good oral health has in safeguarding general health and well-being of people of all ages.

Why is World Oral Health day celebrated on March 20?  Why is the Number 20 so important?

  • Seniors must have a total of 20 natural teeth at the end of their life to be considered healthy
  • Children should possess 20 baby teeth
  • Healthy adults must have a total of 32 teeth and 0 dental cavities
  • Expressed on a numerical basis this can be translated as 3/20 hence March 20

The World Oral Health Day 2017 team have put together a free practical guide.  It shows the ‘dos and don’ts’ of oral health, with special sections devoted to women during pregnancy, children and seniors.  Download your copy right here.

In 2017 the World Oral Health Day campaign is all about ‘LIVE MOUTH SMART’ This philosophy encourages people to take control of their dental health to enjoy a healthy, functional mouth throughout their entire life, from childhood into old age.

Dental disease can have an impact on your life – including your ability to perform basic functions. A healthy mouth allows you to speak, smile, smell, taste, touch, chew, swallow and convey a range of emotions with confidence and without pain, discomfort and disease.

Dr Jack and the Infinity Dental Care team encourage you think about the risks every day decisions can mean to a healthy mouth. Consider tobacco, harmful use of alcohol and unhealthy diets – especially those rich in sugar.
